Tips for Bar Safety
Do your weekend plans include meeting up with friends at a bar? 49th Street Bail Bonds wants you to be safe and have fun while at a bar.
Here are a few tips for a safe night out:
•Always stay with your friends/in a group.
•Have each other’s phone numbers so if you are separated, you can call each other to re-group. Have more than just one person’s phone number.
•Get your drink directly from the bar
•Know where your drink is and don’t leave it unattended. “Roofies” can be put in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
•Moderate your drinking. The more you drink, the lower your inhibitions go and your judgement is clouded
•If you or one of your friends starts to feel dizzy, confused, or sick, then leave the bar and go to the hospital/medical center. There is a possibility that you or your friend has been drugged. Do not leave your friend alone!
•Go to the bathroom in pairs (if you are a woman) so that your friend isn’t left alone and you can communicate with each other in private. This is especially important if one or both of you are getting hit on and don’t want the attention
•Don’t lead people on. If you aren’t interested in a person, let them know. If the person won’t leave you alone, catch the eye of the bartender, bouncer, or manager
•Speak up! If someone is invading your space, making lewd comments, or touching you then tell them no and to stop. Get help if you need to.
•Do not leave the bar without your friends. Do not leave with strangers. Do not leave alone.
•Make sure you have all your valuables before you leave the bar. You don’t want to find out that you left your driver’s license or credit card by mistake
•Have a designated driver or have the number or a taxi/Uber/Lyft/ride sharing service. Do not drink and drive!
•Trust your instincts. If something feels off or a person is too pushy or gives you bad vibes, then leave. Your gut is usually right.
